Security Software
The security of your computer is very important. Windows users should be running anti-virus software and anti-spyware software. Mac users should make sure that all updates for OSX and other software are installed.
- AVGFree anti-virus - Free virus protection software for personal use. If your computer is used as a 'work' computer, it may not be eligible for the free version of this software

- SpyBot Search and Destroy - Free anti-spyware software for Windows
- Microsoft Update - Updates for Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office
- Windows Defender - Anti-spyware software from Microsoft that is free for users of Microsoft Windows
PDF Software
From time to time, you may need to read or create PDF files. The following software may be useful to help you in this process. Users of Mac OSX should be able to read and create PDF files without any additional software.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader - PDF Reading Software
- Primo PDF - Free PDF Creation Software
Microsoft Software
If you do not have a full copy of Microsoft Office, this software may be of use to you. A open source alternative to Microsoft Office is Open Office. (Note: If you do not use Microsoft Office, NTS IT recommends saving word processing files in the RTF (Rich Text Format) to insure compatibility with Microsoft Word.)
